During the monsoon these families were able to harvest rain water in the tanks and using it for their daily needs. DISHA constructed eight underground rainwater harvesting structures of 50000 liters capacity in eight government schools in the villages of Ilra, Baghada, Dhandhwa, Badki Padariya, Badki Babhani, Bakraur, Kharati and Dhanawa. The responsibility of maintaining these structures has been transferred to School Administration under Vidyalaya Shiksha Samitis (VSS).
Community based rainwater-harvesting system is a sure method to satisfy the water needs of the community as it captures and conserves rainwater, improving percolation and recharges groundwater.
As a result of DISHA's work in the villages to promote community based rainwater-harvesting three Ahars were made functiona in villages Badki Babhani and Badki Padariya. Eight wells were cleaned, repaired and revitalized in Badki Babhani, Badki Padariya, Jahanbigha and Ilra villages by DISHA.
